In-Gallery Learning Program Assistant

The In-Gallery Learning Program Assistant will present and facilitate a variety of hands-on STEM activities. The Program Assistant will support different learning venues by readying materials and ensuring that spaces such as the Engineering Design Workshop and Hall of Human Life are well stocked and presentable to general museum audiences.


  • Set up and facilitate hands-on activities/interpretations in the Hall of Human Life for 5-7 hours "on the floor" daily
  • Assist in cleaning, organization, and upkeep of program materials and equipment


This position is part-time, 7 hours per week, on Sundays from 9am-5pm.

  • Ability to read, write, understand English; basic math
  • Successfully completed a previous internship or past Program Assistant position at the Museum of Science.
  • Demonstrated comfort communicating STEM concepts to a variety of lay audiences verbally
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a group setting as part of a multi-faceted team


Non-Exempt (Hourly). $14.50/ hour

Staff, interns, and volunteers will be required to show proof that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment. The Museum will consider an exemption from the vaccine requirement if they are unable to get vaccinated due to a qualifying medical disability or a sincerely held religious objection. The Museum is not required to provide an accommodation or exemption from the vaccine requirement if doing so would pose a direct threat to others in the workplace or would create an undue hardship for the Museum.
