Sr. Audio/Visual Technician

The Senior Audio/Visual Technician manages and directs the set-up, operation, and break down of audio visual equipment throughout the building and grounds to support live webcasts, on-site events and lectures, museum functions, and meetings. Additionally, this position is responsible for working with internal and external stakeholders to develop audio/visual service solutions to a wide variety of productions and events, and will be instrumental in developing and utilizing new technologies to grow the museum's digital footprint now and in the future.


  • Oversee the daily setup and operation of audio/visual equipment for 75-100 webcasts, events, functions, and other museum activities per year
  • Technical direct 50 to 75 multi-camera webcasting productions per year.
  • Oversee and assure that A/V resources in Museum spaces can optimally support up to 200 internal meetings per year.
  • Oversee the installation, maintenance and repair over 200 pieces of A/V equipment, such as amplifiers, microphones, speakers, projectors, throughout the Museum
  • Oversee the maintenance and use of all studio spaces by Museum staff.
  • Define requirements and recommend purchases of equipment, stock and supplies for projects and departments. Typical budgets are between $2k – 20k, though larger projects may upwards of $100k
  • Support A/V media production as needed, providing supplemental media production work on up to 50 media production projects per year


This position is full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday. Flexible hours are a must; some holidays, evenings, and weekends included. Some overtime will be required.


Manager, System Support Service


  • Post high school course work, technical degree, associate's degree, business or vocational certificate.
  • 5 or more years of audio/visual support experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of webcast formats and streaming equipment.
  • Experience with installation of audio/visual and computer equipment in networked PC/MacOS environments.
  • Technical knowledge of theatre and presentation systems.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments and tasks.
  • Demonstrated sense of leadership and teamwork.
  • Demonstrated strong written and oral skills for communicating with high-level stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to leverage benefits of Microsoft O365 environment.
  • Technical directing experience
  • Camera operation experience
  • Live sound engineering experience


Non-Exempt (Hourly). $24.50-$26.50/hour
