Forum Education Associate

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The Education Associate will develop, present, and facilitate programs, media, and high-profile events that engage the public in conversations around the social and ethical dimensions of emerging scientific and technological issues. Many of the projects for this work involve multi-institutional network or collaborative projects. This person will work closely with staff in other departments, and will participate in collaborations with other institutions and organizations as part of the project team.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Developing and presenting forums and other programming: 4-6 per year. Duties will include content development, booking and working with speakers, participant registration, marketing, and program evaluation.
  • Researching topics, information, and social dimensions of issues in current science pertaining to 4-6 forum events per year.
  • Presentations or other kinds of public programming: 1-2 interpretations, presentations, or other programming per months as agreed upon with members of pertinent departments.


WORK SCHEDULE:

This position is grant-funded, full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday through September 2022.


REPORTS TO:

Program Manager, Forum and Vice President, Education & Enrichment Programs


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors of Science or Arts degree.
  • Six months or more of either science education or science or policy research experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in science, technology, and/or engineering
  • Demonstrated communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Demonstrated experience in working as part of a team


STARTING SALARY:

Non-Exempt (Hourly).
