SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The Collections Fellow will assist the Senior Curator in the research and preservation of the collection and will help perform care and arrangement of the collection, which includes natural history, technology, and art objects. Specifically, the Collections Fellow will research objects of unknown or incomplete provenance and assist in determining their disposition. The fellow will also expand his/her personal skills and knowledge by assisting in inventory and processing projects, research, cataloguing, exhibit de/installation, and packing and shipping artifacts.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lift objects up to 40lbs
  • Work in storage areas with varying environmental conditions
  • Transport fragile objects in collection throughout Museum facility.
  • Assist with projects for collection of approximately 30,000 objects of a variety of types and age
  • Experience with collection databases and data curation


WORK SCHEDULE:

This position is full-time, 40hrs/wk, Monday- Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm. The duration of this position is one (1) year.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors of Science or Arts degree.
  • 1 or more years of collections management, arts management, or museum studies experience.
  • Previous experience in collections management or registration in a museum environment
  • Demonstrated reading and writing skills
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to climb ladders, carry boxes, and generally perform light physical activities
  • Experience with collection databases and data curation


STARTING SALARY:

Non-Exempt (Hourly).
