Group Sales & Tourism Marketing Manager

The Group Sales & Tourism Marketing Manager position serves a critical role in bringing in visitors to the Museum. The person in this role will serve as the ambassador, evangelist, and primary contact for the tourism market segment (hotel partners, group leaders, tour operators, concierges, online affiliates, and travel portals) providing exemplary service that helps grow and deepend relationships. The Marketing Manager works to identify new customers, new markets and new products that help drive incremental sales and ultimately visits to the museum. The role develops and executes marketing and sales strategies that address the needs of multiple audiences, implementing cross-channel campaigns (email, social, digital, print, etc.) that raise brand awareness, generate leads, and bookings. The Marketing Manager optimizes collateral, web site, and other sales materials and identifies new opportunities to increase exposure of the Museum. Through staying abreast of marketplace trends in travel, technologies, and vendor products, as well as through the integration of internal data and customer needs, the Marketing Manager creates data and customer centric solutions to help the museum achieve its goals.


  • Develop and execute cross channel marketing communications strategies targeted to tour operators, groups, hotels and other related audiences, ensuring that all online and offline messaging and materials are optimized to drive awareness, interest, and bookings. May include print, email, digital, social, web, and sales collateral. Approximately 5 to 10 campaigns per year
  • Responsible for managing and optimizing multiple programs within the tourist and group sales umbrella, including tourist pass programs like CityPASS, affiliates and travel portals like Expedia, and a portfolio of tour operators and hotels
  • Establishes strategies, growth goals, KPIs and marketing plans for each partner or customer segment
  • Develops relationships with at least 3 to 5 new tourism/travel partners and/or affiliates per year, working with partners to develop optimal program structures and working closely with internal partners to address operational requirements
  • Serves as primary point of contact for the travel and tourism market, attending 3 to 5 association meetings (Boston Attractions Group, Greater Boston Concierge Association, etc.) per year, cultivating relationships across the Boston travel industry, and conducting 5 to 10 site tours per year
  • On an ongoing basis, manages and evolves Group products and pricing, proactively bringing opportunities to senior management, to address the changing marketplace
  • Streamlines and optimizes processes and procedures to drive efficiencies and develops monthly composite reporting that meets needs of multiple audiences


This position is full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday.


Director of Marketing


  • Bachelors of Science or Arts degree.
  • 5 or more years of Business, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Communications experience.
  • Previous experience with affiliate sales and marketing in B2C and B2B environments
  • 5+ years of digital marketing in revenue generating attractions/tourism business, preferably with inbound travel experience (e.g., Viator, TripAdvisor)
  • 3+ years of developing and driving business relationships, partnerships
  • 2+ years in a position with formal revenue goals
  • Expertise in or exposure to SEO, SEM, print, social, email, and other marketing channels and the ability to leverage multiple channels to achieve goals
  • Prior experience with content development, developing landing pages, etc
  • Prior experience developing reporting metrics/KPI's and reports and proficiency in Excel
  • Past experience leveraging marketing automation tools such as Tessitura, Salesforce, Hubspot, or similar
  • Interest in tourism and the Boston, regional, national and international travel markets
