The Director of Planned Giving will develop and execute strategies to identify, cultivate and solicit qualified prospects for the Museum of Science's Planned Giving program. The Director will carry a personal portfolio of 100 prospects and will be responsible for reaching a minimum of $1,000,000 in Planned Giving revenue annually. The Director will also develop the annual Planned Giving Operational plan as well as the 5-year Business Plan (including budgeting and goal forecasting). Working closely with the Senior Director of Leadership and Planned Giving, the Director of Planned Giving will provide Planned Giving training and strategy for the major gifts and annual fund fundraisers.


  • Personally responsible for a portfolio of 100 Planned Giving prospects annually.
  • Produce and execute Planned Giving annual operating plan and a 5-yr business plan.
  • 15-25 new members annually in the Museum's Planned Giving Society.
  • Plan, manage and execute 3 Planned Giving committee meetings, 2 cultivation events, and 4 multi-marketing communications annually.
  • Conduct minimum of 4 Planned Giving Division-wide training sessions annually.
  • Conduct no less than 50 visits annually culminating in 20-25 new planned gifts.
  • Reach a minimum of $1,000,000+ Planned Giving revenue annually.


This position is full-time, 40hrs/wk, Monday-Friday


Sr. Director, Leadership Gifts and Planned Giving


  • Bachelor of Science or Arts and additional course work.
  • 10 or more years of Fundraising and financial planning experience.
  • Proven knowledge of fundraising field including all financial vehicles related to Planned Giving.
  • Demonstrated ability to set objectives, activate plans and manage performance in Planned Giving fundraising.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with front line fundraiser to incorporate Planned Giving vehicles into solicitation strategies.
  • • Demonstrated knowledge of estate planning and knowledgeable in all financial Planned Giving vehicles including Gift Acceptance Policies.
  • Proven success in soliciting and closing planed gifts at the 6 and 7 figure level.
  • Proven ability to create and implement strategy to guide program growth, expand funding sources, leverage existing prospects, and build sustainable organizational partnerships.
