SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The Teacher Educator, as part of the Museum's Professional Development Team, will develop innovative programs and provide leadership in professional learning programs both onsite and in the community, as well as, build and support school district and university partnerships. Educators with experience teaching and pedagogical knowledge and STEM content and/or school based science instruction will plan and deliver single and multi- day learning sessions for educators utilizing the unique resources of the Museum's learning environment.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver 1 – 5 half or whole day workshops each week or as scheduled on-site and in the community.
  • Co-host five week-long sabbaticals and lead summer programming for teachers each year.
  • Participate in three to five PD development and/or revision cycles per year.
  • Support ~1,500 teacher learners in designed programs such as workshops and institutes as well as through informal interactions such as resource reviews and field trip planning.
  • Write or assist with 6 – 10 program report narratives annually.
  • Work Schedule Tuesday – Saturday.


WORK SCHEDULE:

This position is full-time, 40hrs/wk, Tuesday-Saturday


REPORTS TO:

Manager, Teacher Professional Development


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science or Arts Degree.
  • 5 or more years of science/engineering education experience.
  • Experience in the development and delivery of K-12 school-based science and/or engineering educational programs.
  • Knowledge of one or more science disciplinary content or engineering disciplinary content.
  • Demonstrated experience presenting STEM professional development programs.
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Start with and maintain a safe driving record so that the Museum's insurance carrier approves you for driving Museum vehicles. This includes being comfortable driving full-sized vans in urban, rural, and highway settings.


STARTING SALARY:

Exempt (Salaried).
