Traveling Programs Education Associate II

Research, develop, and present exciting programs that ignite curiosity in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (S.T.E.M) so that all students may see themselves as scientists. This educator will be focused on working on our new community programs initiative and will lead projects to develop and improve program content, equipment, and training materials that they will deliver to various community partners.


Traveling Programs teaches science outreach programs to schools, libraries, and community organizations throughout New England and serves over 100,000 people annually. We offer over 25 different programs on a wide variety of science subjects such as chemistry, physics, weather, animal biology, astronomy, and engineering.


  • Teach and learn at least ten programs by the end of the first year so as to be able to be fully scheduled (teach up to 4 teaching shifts/week) in both Traveling Programs and Live Presentations.
  • Teach Traveling Programs 3-4 days per week, 1-4 sessions per day, 16-250 people per session.
  • Drive 5,000-7,500 miles per year to reach sites served.
  • Assist with development of 2 – 3 new demonstrations, activities, media and other program content.
  • Lead 1 – 2 projects to improve and expand Traveling Programs' educational content and training resources.


This position is full-time, 40 hours/week, Tuesday-Saturday.


Manager, Traveling Programs


  • Bachelors of Science or Arts degree preferred.
  • Three or more years of Science education experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to present and translate a variety of science content to a broad age range.
  • Oral and written communications skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a high performing team.
  • Start with and maintain a safe driving record so that the Museum's insurance carrier approves you for driving Museum vehicles. This includes being comfortable driving full-sized vans in urban, rural, and highway settings.


Non-Exempt (Hourly).
