Current Science Communication Fellow

The Current Science Communication Fellow will develop, present, and facilitate programs, media, and high-profile events that engage the public in learning about emerging scientific and technological topics and issues. This person will work closely with staff in other departments, and will participate in collaborations with other institutions and organizations. This gives the Fellow a rare and tremendous opportunity to be part of a strategic and growing priority for informal science education, while honing their skills and imagination, experimenting with career directions, and acting as an interface between the scientific community and the public around crucial issues facing society.


  • Researching topics, information, and social dimensions of issues in current science: 2-3 days per week
  • Developing and presenting forums and other programming: 4-6 per year. Duties will include content development, booking and working with speakers, participant registration, marketing, and program evaluation.
  • Presentations given: 1 or 2 per week on average
  • Media created: 1-2 per year


This position is 1 year long, full-time, 40 hours week. Occasional nights and weekends required.


Manager, Current Science Communication


  • Bachelors of Science or Arts degree
  • 6 months or more of science education or public teaching experience
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask in a high activity environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate science content in programming for audiences of 20 - 300 people
  • Demonstrated communication skills
  • Experience in delivering educational programming on site or in the community such as a classroom or informal educational setting.


Non-Exempt (Hourly). : $18.25 / hr

Staff, interns, and volunteers will be required to show proof that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment.
