SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The Audio/Visual Technician performs set-up, operation, and break down of audio/visual equipment throughout the building and grounds to support on-site events and lectures, webcasts, museum functions, and meetings. Additionally, this position is responsible for performing maintenance and upgrades on audio-visual equipment in our event spaces and production studios to ensure maximum uptime for our internal and external stakeholders. This position will work closely with the Senior A/V Technicians as well as the Manager to ensure audio/visual support needs are met in an organized, timely, and professional manner.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Daily set up and operation of audio/visual equipment for 200 meetings annually.
  • Daily setup and operation of audio/visual equipment for 75-100 webcasts, events, functions, and other museum activities per year.
  • Participate in the installation, maintenance, and repair of over 200 pieces of A/V equipment in production studios and event spaces, such as amplifiers, microphones, speakers, projectors, throughout the museum.
  • Assist Sr. A/V Technician in defining requirements and recommending purchases of equipment, stock, and supplies for projects and departments. Typical budgets are between $2k - 20k, though larger projects may upwards of $100k.
  • Assist Media Producers on video production shoots when needed.


WORK SCHEDULE:

This position is regular, full-time, 40 hours a week. Wednesday - Sunday. Flexible hours are a must; some holidays, evenings, and weekends included. Some overtime will be required.


REPORTS TO:

Manager, Audio/Visual Production and Services


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post high school course work, technical degree, associate degree, business or vocational certificate.
  • 1 or more years of audio/visual support experience.
  • Experience with setup and operation of audio/visual and computer equipment in a variety of spaces and environments.
  • Knowledge of setting up hybrid meetings with Zoom and/or Microsoft Teams.
  • Live sound engineering experience.
  • Familiarity with webcast formats and streaming equipment.
  • Technical knowledge of theatre and presentation systems.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments and tasks.
  • Demonstrated experience working on a team.


STARTING SALARY:

Non-Exempt (Hourly). $21 - $23 / hr
