The Manager, Event Sales is responsible for overseeing daily operations in the event sales department. Serving as primary contact for assigned market segment (corporate events), providing exemplary customer service to client base in order to secure sales at the Museum. They are responsible for hiring and training sales staff, relaying information to Sr. Director of department to inform regarding budgeted revenue and sales quotas per market segment.


  • Manage up to two Sales Account Managers yearly
  • Develop annual business plan each fiscal year in order to meet or exceed sales quota in assigned market
  • Responsible for sourcing and developing client relationships and referral on a daily and weekly basis for assigned market
  • Develop a database of qualified leads through referrals, telephone canvassing, face to face cold calling on business owners, direct mail, email and networking (30-60 calls per week) and a minimum of (7 qualified leads per week)
  • Book and issue contracts, 150-400 annually. Track revenue from events and communicate weekly sales to Sr. Director of department
  • Lead weekly sales meetings with team to discuss prospects in order to maximize revenues and communicate potential business leads
  • Maintain relationships with 350-800 existing accounts
  • Handle incoming client calls on average 20-60 daily
  • Conduct weekly site tours on average 5-25 weekly
  • Conduct weekly outside visits to clients in territory
  • Make recommendations to Sr. Director of Department in regards to department Marketing Plan
  • Responsible for yearly Marketing / Sales deck. Highlighting marketing opportunities, client fams, advertising spend in each sales market
  • Bring in over half million dollars in sales goals annually


This position is full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday. This role may also work evening and weekend events as necessary.


Sr. Director, Event Strategy, Sales & Operations


  • Post high school course work, technical degree, associate's degree, business or vocational certificate.
  • 5 or more years of sales experience.
  • Ability to set sales targets and achieve them effectively
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, customer service and communication skills
  • Demonstrated analytical skills to identify trends and sales patterns
  • Ability to design and implement a successful sales strategy
  • Experience supervising and mentoring sales representatives
  • Demonstrated planning, organization and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated time management skills


Exempt (Salaried). $83,000-$88,000/year base salary and is eligible for commission based on quarterly sales achievement.
