SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The Director of Annual Giving leads the development of a holistic strategy of philanthropic engagement for the Annual Giving program, designing and implementing a comprehensive multi-year plan and timeline that incorporates a multi-channel strategy for solicitation and stewardship of Explorer, Innovator and Discoverers Societies a well as non-society low-level donors. In partnership with Advancement leadership, lead Annual Fund solicitations of Museum Trustees and Museum Advisors. Manage a portfolio of board members and leadership annual fund donors and conduct in-person cultivation and solicitation meetings to secure annual gifts from them. Be involved in detailed, regular coordination with the Research & Data Analytics and MOS Membership teams to identify new donor prospects. Work collaboratively with Individual Giving colleagues on gift conversations and laddering annual giving donors into leadership gifts. Be responsible for updating the Advancement CRM system as well as providing all requested interim and summary reports in a timely and accurate manner.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Generate a minimum of 6% growth annually in the Annual Giving program
  • Oversee two direct reports (Annual Giving Officer, Annual Giving Coordinator)


WORK SCHEDULE:

This position is full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday.


REPORTS TO:

Associate Vice President, Individual Giving


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors of Science or Arts degree.
  • 5 or more years of advancement experience.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of general fundraising practices, and skilled in designing and implementing a variety of highly creative annual giving fund methodologies.
  • Proven, successful annual fund managerial experience.
  • Experience with data base management. Tessitura preferred, as well as Microsoft software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to motivate staff in a collegial manner providing leadership, training and best practices.
  • Ability to present information succinctly and clearly in both written and oral presentations.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal communications and problem-solving skills.
  • Strategic thinker and ability to look at both short-term and long-term goals within the bigger picture.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work with and motivate volunteers.


STARTING SALARY:

Exempt (Salaried). $100,000-105,000/year.
