SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The Director of Web Design and Development is a hands-on technology leader that has grown into leadership from a development/architecture background. Responsible for strategic planning, development, execution and implementation related to all of the Museum's websites and mobile applications. Working with the other divisions within Information Technology and various business units to devise the strategic direction for mos.org, this position is responsible for the development and operation of the Museum's commercial web properties and applications to enable a best-in-class customer journey and customer experience across all digital touch points. Leads site operations and site development to define, design, execute and optimize digital features, functionality, integrations and experiences that serve to deepen omni-channel customer engagement and an optimal customer experience in support of our digital vision, marketing and sales goals. The older platforms need to be supported as you create new and innovative versions on the new platform ultimately migrating functionality to the new platform.

  • Management of 4-6 developers and interns
  • Intranet with end-user base of over 500 employees, trustees, interns, and volunteers
  • 1200+ web pages
  • 20+ unique websites
  • 125+ unique integrations
  • 150+ workflows
  • 5+ mobile applications
  • 12+ million annual page views
  • 5+ million annual visitors to web presence


WORK SCHEDULE:

This position is full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday with on call duties for nights and weekends


REPORTS TO:

Vice President, Information Technology


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors of Science in Computer Science or related field experience
  • 10 or more years of digital and development experience
  • Demonstrated experience as a hands-on technology leader that has grown into leadership from a development/architecture background
  • Demonstrated portfolio of mobile first development
  • Experience enabling self-service via a CMS
  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership role with direct reports and people management responsibilities
  • Demonstrated expertise in common development languages (HTML, JavaScript, PHP, Python, AJAX, Web API)
  • Experience coordinating development portfolios and developing strategic roadmaps
  • Expertise in building upon Drupal CMS
  • Demonstrated knowledge of web and mobile analytics tools, particularly Google Analytics
  • Prior experience with application delivery (preferably eCommerce/web/Mobile app/POS/Omni-Channel Systems)
  • Experience building large-scale web services, APIs in a cloud environment as well as on premise (demonstrated experience with developing RESTful web apps and interfaces)
  • Experience with vendor management
  • Project management expertise, including requirements gathering and documentation
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the software development lifecycle including requirements collection, design, QA, implementation, and maintenance
  • Demonstrated ability to competing priorities, manage time and resources


STARTING SALARY:

Exempt (Salaried). $140,000-$145,000/year.
