SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The Associate Director assists the Fundraising Events team in creating, developing, implementing and executing all revenue-generating events within the Advancement Division, to include but not limited to the gala, the Boston Marathon, dinners, third party and cause marketing opportunities. This position will report to the Director of Fundraising Events and assist with the sponsorships, as well as the Fundraising Events & Hosts Committees in helping to empower those members to serve as ambassadors for all events. These activities often serve as focal points for future donors' early perception of the Museum and will be crucial as Advancement works to grow its donor base. This position will support the Director of Fundraising Events in increasing revenue and growing events as well as work in close collaboration with other departments in the Museum.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • With the Director of Fundraising Events, drive annual income through events to exceed $1.2 annually
  • Maintain a portfolio of individual event participants and corporate sponsorship prospects (50+)
  • Assist with the coordination, development and retention of all Fundraising Events (10+), Volunteers (2-40), Host and Event Committee Members (10-15 members)
  • Assist the Director of Fundraising Events in growing the current event portfolio by 2 events and/or increase revenue by 3% and assess the creation of new, innovative revenue-generating events that cultivate, solicit and steward both non-donors and major donors for event sponsorship and ongoing division support
  • Some evening and weekend work is occasionally required


WORK SCHEDULE:

This position is full-time, Monday-Friday. Some evening and weekend work occasionally required.


REPORTS TO:

Director, Fundraising Events


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors of Science or Arts degree
  • 5 or more years of planning events: fundraising, corporate, social, third party and/or cause marketing experience
  • Demonstrated track record in soliciting gifts from individual, corporations and/or foundations
  • Demonstrated experience in soliciting in- kind support for events
  • Demonstrated experience using a database
  • Demonstrated experience working with vendors
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated attention to detail


STARTING SALARY:

Exempt (Salaried).
